I was one of the earliest members of Futureculture - not very active (though not totally inactive either) - I did post a few times.

This still stands as one of the best pieces of writing I have ever encountered on the Internet - one of the very few that I recall, now over 10 years later.

Read it.

Realize that this was written pre-1994, heck I think it was 1992.
